SERMONS FOR OCT-DEC 2022

OCT 2-FEAR OF THE LORD -WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO HAVE FEAR OF THE LORD? EXODUS 20:20

Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.”

OCT 9 - FEAR OF WHO WE ARE – WHY CAN’T I BE WHAT I WANT TO BE? ROMANS 7

14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

OCT 16-FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN – WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD? 1 JOHN 2:20

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth

OCT 23-FEAR OF SIN – DO WE KEEP A HEALTHY DISTANCE FROM SIN? GENESIS 4:7

If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

OCT 30-FEAR OF DEATH – WILL I DIE? JOHN 11:25

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

NOV 6-THANKFUL FOR JESUS – I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. HEBREWS 12:1-3

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

NOV 13-THANKFUL FOR MY FAMILY – HOW DO WE CARE FOR OUR FAMILY? 1 TIMOTHY 5:4

But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.

NOV 20-THANKFUL FOR THE CHANCE TO SERVE – DO I LONG TO SERVE JESUS? EPHESIANS 6:7-8

Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.
